It depends on what you want to see, but most travellers find 10–14 days allows a well-paced circuit combining the Cultural Triangle, hill country, wildlife safaris and the coast. Shorter trips of 7–8 days’ work well if you focus on one or two regions, while 15+ days allows a deeper, slower-paced journey with time in the north or lesser-visited wilderness areas.
Sri Lanka has two monsoon seasons that affect different coasts at different times, so there is a good time to visit somewhere on the island year-round. Broadly, the south and west coasts and hill country are best from December to April, while the east coast (Trincomalee, Arugam Bay, Pasikuda) is best from May to September.
Most itineraries pair the Cultural Triangle (Sigiriya, Dambulla, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura) with the hill country (Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella) and a stretch of coastline, since these sit within a comfortable driving loop. Wilder options like Wilpattu, Gal Oya or the Jaffna Peninsula suit travellers who have visited before or want to go further off the beaten track.
Yes. Our round tour packages are built to flex – you can add optional excursions, extend your stay in a particular region, or slot in one of our day tours before or after the main itinerary. Let us know when enquiring, and we’ll build it into your quotation.
Yes, all of the above. Many of our itineraries, such as the Romantic Escape or Family Discovery circuits, are built with a specific traveller type in mind, but every package can be adapted, and our tailor-made service is designed precisely for groups that don’t fit a standard mould.
Start by sending us an enquiry through our website, email or phone with your rough travel dates, group size and any initial ideas. We’ll respond with a proposed itinerary and quotation; once you’re happy with the details, we’ll confirm the booking once we receive your written acceptance and the required deposit.
No. A quotation shows proposed pricing and availability at the time it was issued, but it does not guarantee accommodation, transport or activities. Your trip is only confirmed once we’ve received your written acceptance, your deposit payment, and issued a written booking confirmation.
We recommend booking at least 2–3 months ahead, particularly for travel during peak season (December–March) or if your itinerary includes sought-after boutique properties or safari camps with limited rooms. That said, we regularly confirm trips on shorter notice – just get in touch, and we’ll advise on what’s realistically available.
We’ll ask about your travel dates and trip length, the type of experiences that interest you, your preferred pace and accommodation style, your group size and any special requirements, and any must-see places or occasions you’d like built in, such as a honeymoon or family milestone.
In many cases, yes. We’re happy to adjust an itinerary where suppliers allow, though changes made close to departure may not always be possible and can incur a fee once arrangements are confirmed with hotels, trains or activity operators. The earlier you let us know, the more flexibility we generally have.
Most visitors require a visa or Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter Sri Lanka. Requirements vary by nationality and can change, so we recommend checking the official Sri Lankan immigration channels closer to your travel date. Clients are responsible for ensuring they hold a valid passport and any necessary visa or ETA before departure.
Comprehensive travel insurance, covering at minimum trip cancellation, medical treatment and evacuation, and personal belongings, is recommended for every traveller and may be mandatory for tours involving adventure activities, hiking or remote areas.
We’re not medical professionals, so we recommend consulting your doctor or a registered travel health clinic well in advance of departure for advice on recommended vaccinations and health precautions specific to your circumstances and itinerary.
Please let us know before you travel. Disclosing this in advance allows us to make arrangements, whether that’s adjusting the pace of an itinerary, briefing hotels on dietary needs, or flagging activities that may not be suitable, so your trip runs smoothly.
Sri Lanka is a popular and generally safe destination for international travellers. As with any destination, we recommend standard travel precautions, following the guidance of your guide and driver, and keeping an eye on your home country’s official travel advisories ahead of your trip.
Round tour packages are multi-day journeys that string together several regions of the island into one continuous itinerary, with accommodation, transport and touring included throughout. Day tours are single-day excursions from a specific base, ideal for travellers short on time or looking to add a focused experience to a longer trip.
No. Wildlife sightings on safari or nature-based excursions can never be guaranteed, as they depend on the natural behaviour of wild animals. Our trackers and guides know the parks intimately and time drives around the hours when activity is highest, which gives you the best possible chance, but nothing in nature is certain.
It varies by experience. Most cultural touring, wildlife safaris and culinary experiences are rated Easy, while hikes such as Adam’s Peak, the Knuckles Range or Horton Plains range from Moderate to Challenging. Each activity and day-tour listing on our site notes its activity level so you can plan accordingly.
Yes, children are welcome on the majority of our tours, and we’re happy to design family-friendly itineraries on request, adjusting pacing, accommodation and activities to suit different ages.
Some adventure activities, wildlife experiences, water sports and excursions carry minimum age, height, or health requirements set by the relevant third-party operator. We’ll advise on these at the time of booking wherever possible, and note age recommendations on relevant tour listings.
Age-based discounts on accommodation, transport or entrance fees are set by individual hotels and suppliers and will be confirmed at the time of quotation. Typically, infants under 2 stay free of charge, and reduced rates may apply for children sharing a room with adults, subject to each hotel’s own policy.
It’s a five-step, fully collaborative process: you share your rough travel idea, we ask about your preferences and interests, our team designs a custom day-by-day itinerary, we review and refine it together based on your feedback, and once you’re happy, we confirm all bookings and provide pre-departure support.
There’s no fixed minimum; we design tailor-made trips across a wide range of lengths, paces and budgets, from focused week-long circuits to extensive multi-region journeys. Let us know your priorities, and we’ll shape a proposal around them.
As many as needed. The review stage is fully collaborative, and we’re happy to adjust pacing, swap experiences, or fine-tune accommodation choices until the itinerary feels exactly right before you confirm.
We provide full pre-departure support, including guidance on travel documents, local contacts, and 24/7 assistance throughout your trip, so you can travel with confidence from arrival to departure.
Yes. We work with local guides, drivers and small businesses so tourism benefits local communities, present Sri Lankan culture and heritage accurately and respectfully, advise clients on appropriate behaviour at religious and cultural sites, and support fair treatment and fair pay for the people we work with.
Where possible, we prioritise partnerships with hotels, camps and operators who demonstrate environmental practices, promote responsible wildlife viewing that follows national park guidelines, encourage clients to reduce single-use plastic, and support the conservation of the protected areas and cultural heritage sites featured on our itineraries.
Yes, our Sustainable Sri Lanka package is built specifically around conservation, local livelihoods and community-based stays, including a Vedda community visit, boat safaris in Gal Oya, and low-impact wilderness regions featured on standard circuits.
Every journey is supported by an experienced, professionally trained chauffeur guide and a well-maintained, air-conditioned vehicle sized appropriately for your group, so comfort and safety are built in throughout your trip.
