Kalpitiya Coastal Arrival

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport with a warm meet-and-greet, then transfer to the remote coastal landscapes of Kalpitiya, where salt lagoons, fishing villages, and open ocean horizons unfold. Check into a laid-back eco-lagoon retreat, with an optional kitesurfing session on the lagoon (best May–October). Overnight in Kalpitiya.

Dolphins to Wilpattu

Enjoy an optional dolphin-watching excursion in the Indian Ocean (best October–May) before continuing north through shifting coastal and dry-zone landscapes to Wilpattu National Park. Check into a wilderness safari camp on the park’s edge, settling in for an evening immersed in forest sounds. Overnight near Wilpattu.

Wilpattu Wilderness Safari

Spend a full day inside Wilpattu National Park with a picnic lunch in the wilderness, exploring natural villu lakes and dense scrub forest alive with elephants, leopards, sloth bears, and birdlife (best February–October). Expert trackers guide a slow-paced safari before a fireside evening under the stars. Overnight near Wilpattu.

Sacred Anuradhapura

Travel through rural dry-zone landscapes to Anuradhapura, exploring the sacred ancient capital’s stupas, monasteries, irrigation tanks, and the living Sri Maha Bodhi tree. Check into a peaceful eco-heritage retreat set among forests and reservoirs for a quiet, nature-immersed evening. Overnight in Anuradhapura.

Ancient Ruins in Depth

Dive deeper into Anuradhapura’s archaeological and spiritual landscape, wandering vast open ruins, monastic complexes and ancient irrigation engineering. Enjoy an optional cycling excursion through village paths and heritage sites in the late afternoon golden light. Overnight in a low-density eco stay surrounded by nature and heritage.

Toward Dambulla & Minneriya

Journey through farming villages and dry-zone scenery toward Dambulla, with an optional afternoon safari at Minneriya National Park where elephant herds gather around ancient reservoirs (best July–October). Check into a rural eco-retreat surrounded by forest edges and peaceful village landscapes. Overnight in the Dambulla region.

Sigiriya Rock to Kandy

Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress in the morning before the crowds arrive, exploring frescoes, gardens, and panoramic summit views. Continue toward Kandy through spice gardens and lush highland scenery, checking into a boutique hillside retreat overlooking forested valleys and misty mountains. Overnight in Kandy.

Temple of the Tooth & Kandy Life

Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic during its calm spiritual hours, then explore local markets and craft workshops that reflect the island’s living traditions. Round off the day with an optional evening cultural dance performance. Overnight in a boutique heritage-style stay near Kandy Lake.

Scenic Rail to Ella

Board the scenic train toward Ella, passing tea plantations, waterfalls, tunnels, and mist-covered mountains along one of the world’s most celebrated rail routes. Settle into a mountain eco-lodge or boutique hill stay overlooking valleys and tea estates for a slow, relaxed evening. Overnight in Ella.

Nine Arches to Udawalawe

Visit Nine Arch Bridge and take a short hike to Little Adam’s Peak before continuing to Udawalawe National Park, known for open grassland elephant safaris. Check into a safari-style lodge or tented eco-camp positioned close to wildlife corridors for an immersive nature experience. Overnight in Udawalawe.

Udawalawe & Bundala Birdlife

Join a morning elephant safari in Udawalawe National Park, then travel to Bundala National Park in the afternoon, known for migratory birdlife, lagoons and crocodile habitats (best birdwatching November–March). Return to a rustic eco-safari lodge surrounded by wilderness silence. Overnight near Udawalawe.

Galle Fort & Departure

Journey to the southern coastline, stopping at Galle Fort to explore colonial architecture, artisan cafes, and ocean-facing ramparts, with optional stops at Unawatuna or Mirissa for whale watching or a beginner surf lesson. Continue to Colombo for a final cafe breakfast before transferring to the airport for departure.
