Negombo Family Welcome

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport with a private meet-and-greet, then transfer to Negombo for a relaxed start after long-haul travel. Check into a family-friendly beach or lagoon-side resort, followed by a sunset beach walk and an optional mangrove boat ride introducing coastal birdlife. Overnight in Negombo.

Wilpattu Family Safari

Drive north through coconut plantations to Wilpattu National Park for an afternoon jeep safari, spotting leopards, sloth bears, elephants, deer, and crocodiles with interactive spotting activities designed for children. Round off the evening with storytelling on Sri Lanka’s ecosystems and conservation. Overnight near Wilpattu.

Anuradhapura for Families

Explore the UNESCO-listed sacred city of Anuradhapura’s stupas, reservoirs, monasteries, and Bodhi tree sites through family-friendly storytelling, with an optional gentle cycling route through shaded heritage pathways. Enjoy a relaxed lakeside evening with traditional Sri Lankan dining. Overnight in an eco-heritage lodge.

Village Life to Sigiriya

Enjoy an authentic village experience with bullock cart rides, canoe crossings, paddy field visits, and cooking demonstrations before arriving in Sigiriya to check into an eco-lodge surrounded by tropical greenery. Spend the evening on nature walks and family relaxation. Overnight in Sigiriya.

Sigiriya Rock for All Ages

Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress for panoramic views and royal history, recommended for children aged 7 and up or opt for the gentler Pidurangala Rock. Enjoy afternoon pool time and village cycling, followed by evening storytelling and bonfire-style outdoor dining. Overnight in Sigiriya.

Kandy & Cultural Dance

Travel to Kandy with spice garden and fruit market stops en route. In the evening, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, followed by an optional Kandyan dance performance with drumming and fire acts that children often love. Overnight in a family-friendly boutique hotel.

Gregory Lake Fun

Drive through waterfalls and tea plantations to Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka’s colonial-era “Little England.” Spend the afternoon at Gregory Lake with paddle boats, cycling paths, and lakeside parks suited to children, followed by an evening high tea. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Horton Plains for Families

Take a gentle, family-friendly trek through Horton Plains’ cloud forests and grasslands to World’s End and Baker’s Falls (recommended for children 8+), with a scenic picnic breakfast and an alternative waterfall option for younger children. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Scenic Train & Nine Arches

Board the iconic scenic train from Nanu Oya to Ella, a comfortable 2.5 to 3-hour ride ideal for families, passing tea plantations, tunnels, and waterfalls. Visit Nine Arch Bridge and enjoy Ella’s relaxed cafe culture. Overnight in a boutique hillside stay in Ella.

Elephants & Beach Arrival

Visit the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe to observe orphaned elephants being rehabilitated, followed by an afternoon jeep safari spotting elephants and birdlife in open grassland. Continue to Mirissa or Weligama, with optional beginner surf lessons for children 8+. Overnight at a beach resort.

Whales & Galle Fort

Join an optional early morning whale-watching excursion from Mirissa (seasonal Nov–April), then spend the afternoon at the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort, enjoying ramparts, artisan boutiques, ice cream stops and relaxed family cycling. Drive to Colombo for the final overnight.

Departure

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast depending on flight timing before transferring to Bandaranaike International Airport for departure, closing a circuit that balanced wildlife, heritage, and beach time with family-friendly pacing throughout.
