Day

01

Negombo Arrival

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to a beachside hotel in Negombo. Depending on flight timing, enjoy an evening stroll along Negombo Beach or a visit to the Dutch Canal and fish market area, easing gently into the trip. Overnight in Negombo.

Day

02

Cycling Anuradhapura's Ancient City

Drive to Anuradhapura for an afternoon bicycle tour of the Ancient City, pedalling between the Sacred Bodhi Tree, Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, Jetavanaramaya, and Isurumuniya Temple. This slow-paced exploration brings the sacred capital’s monastic history vividly to life. Overnight stay in Anuradhapura.

Day

03

Polonnaruwa & Dambulla Caves

Cycle through Polonnaruwa’s Ancient City, taking in Royal Palace ruins, the Gal Vihara rock carvings, and the quadrangle. Continue to Dambulla for an evening visit to the Cave Temple complex, home to five caves of Buddhist murals and statues. Overnight in Dambulla.

Day

04

Sigiriya to Kandy

Climb Sigiriya Lion Rock Fortress early, ideally before 9 am for cooler temperatures and fewer crowds. In the afternoon, transfer to Kandy to explore the Sacred City, including the Temple of the Tooth Relic, with an optional evening cultural dance show. Overnight in Kandy.

Day

05

Knuckles Range Hike

Spend a full day hiking through the Knuckles Range, taking in cloud forest, village trails, and viewpoints over the Dumbara valley (best January–April and July–September). This excursion offers a wilder counterpoint to the heritage sites earlier in the trip. Overnight near Knuckles.

Day

06

Tea Country & Ramboda Falls

Drive through scenic tea country, stopping at Ramboda Falls along the way. Join a guided tour of a working tea factory with a hands-on tea-plucking experience in the surrounding estates, learning the full journey from leaf to cup. Overnight in the hill country.

Day

07

Horton Plains & World's End

Rise early for an excursion to Horton Plains, hiking to the dramatic World’s End viewpoint and Baker’s Falls through misty highland grassland. This is one of the trip’s most rewarding nature walks, best tackled at dawn before cloud cover sets in. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Day

08

Scenic Rail Journey to Ella

Board the Nanu Oya–Ella train, celebrated as one of the world’s most spectacular railway journeys, winding through emerald tea plantations, mist-covered mountains and picturesque villages. Arrive in Ella and spend the afternoon discovering the charm of this hill town. Visit the famous Nine Arch Bridge, browse local cafes and artisan shops, or simply relax while enjoying panoramic mountain views. Overnight in Ella.

Day

09

Ella Exploration & Journey to Udawalawe

Enjoy a leisurely morning in Ella with the option to hike to Little Adam’s Peak or visit the Ravana Falls. Later, depart for Udawalawe, travelling through dramatic landscapes as the cool highlands gradually give way to Sri Lanka’s dry-zone wilderness. Arrive in the afternoon with time to unwind before safari adventure. Overnight in Udawalawe.

Day

10

Wildlife Safari & Rainforest Retreat

Set off on an early morning jeep safari through Udawalawe National Park, renowned for its thriving population of wild Asian elephants, water buffalo, crocodiles and abundant birdlife. (Seasonal note: wildlife viewing is rewarding throughout the year, with particularly high elephant concentrations during the June–Sept dry season.) After the safari, continue to the lush Sinharaja Biosphere Reserve. Overnight near Sinharaja.

Day

11

Sinharaja Rainforest Discovery

Embark on a full-day guided trek through the UNESCO-listed Sinharaja Biosphere Reserve alongside an experienced naturalist. Explore dense tropical rainforest, hidden waterfalls and rich biodiversity while spotting endemic birds, butterflies, reptiles and rare plant species found nowhere else on Earth. Overnight near Sinharaja.

Day

12

Colonial Heritage of Galle

Travel to Sri Lanka’s beautiful southern coast and explore the UNESCO-listed Galle Dutch Fort. Wander along centuries-old ramparts, admire beautifully preserved colonial architecture, visit the iconic lighthouse, browse boutique galleries and enjoy the lively atmosphere of this historic coastal town. Overnight in Galle.

Day

13

Leisure Along the Southern Coast

Enjoy a full day at leisure in Galle. Choose from a traditional Sri Lankan cooking class within the fort, seasonal whale watching (November–April), a visit to the famous stilt fishermen near Koggala, or simply relax on the golden beaches and soak up the coastal ambience. Overnight in Galle.
